Maybe I'm the odd one out?

Twitter... I have to say, that I'm still in "what's the fuss", and "who cares if I woke up at 9:15 this morning and had 3 rashers of bacon, beans and two eggs (sunny side up) for breakfast", then at 9:27 AM "had a shower a cup of coffee and cleaned my teeth", though maybe I should break that down into multiple twitts, twerps, posts or what ever they are called to ensure no one thinks I did all three at the same time, maybe I did, I can't remember, perhaps I need Twitter to help me remember what I did each day!

However it seems the rest of the world can't get enough, and yes I admit, I do have an account, which gets update once every month when Google Chat says "Hey you haven't posted on Twitter for ages bud!", though it's not nudged me for some time (perhaps it gave up on me) , worse I do have people who are fans, followers, tweetie birds, etc and follow my every move, I bet most of them believe I'm in traction!

I know Dave here at AMWSO (big Twitter Fan) did post some time back about the joys of communicating with affiliates via Twitter and the like, and I'm not one to bash any method of getting a message out, but heck, is anyone really sitting, watching and waiting for the next tweet message. Do they want business messages mixed in with "Woke up and have a headache after last nights pubcon!" Me no, I'm not a believer. Though perhaps if I was following the development of say, a piece of software, it would be useful to get updates via twitter. Or better yet if I can't get to the football match, then someone can sms to their tweet account all the action for me to follow at home. Could always check the developer blog / web site, or watch the football on TV though, for far better results.

Anyway what brought me around to chatting about Twitter is some new tools around that make it easier to manage and track both your own and other people's messages. As I'm a novice user and totally clueless as to which are any good I'll not blather on any further, but suggest popping over to Sukosak's blog and see what he has to say and recommend for those of you who are keen Twitter Users.

    rofl :):)
Since I subscribe to your rss feed to keep up on affiliate stuff ended up with seein this and gettin quite a few giggles.

Awwhh... so you don't feel like the odd one out :)Do have to agree with ya some.:) Guess I'm sorta a lurker twitee lol :)Feel at times like I'm prying into people's personal business when I shouldn't be....but they're twittering it.:)

Ended up there originally from following a link and admit I really haven't spent the time to even figure out how to use it too well.

Have done a teeny bit of twitterin lol :)For the most part tho.....any of my followers are bored to death reading what I'm doin cos just don't have time to tell anybody.

pssst... am really a fairly private person and not quite sure I'm comfortable with everybody in the world knowin everything I'm doin anyway. lol :)

So...I am following quite a few of my affiliate managers in hopes of trying to stay up on things (maybe if it's starin me in the face I won't have to read that email or somethin?)Have to admit, have gotten some giggles from some fellow twittees (lol) posts.

Am following some people just in the hopes of keeping up on their posting of things and links they may point out that may be educational for me.

Really, tho think for the most part...it's just another way for people to keep in touch with others. Everybody likes to feel as if they're part of somethin and this gives everybody that chance.:)

I have to agree with you on your Twitter comments. I too am a member who only posts once a month. I personally can't see what all the fuss is about either.

Oh well, maybe this will be another social idea that I realize the benefit of after it's far too late to make a difference in my affiliate marketing ventures.

I am currently on my Twitter Test (http://www.bluenoser.net/2008/05/11/i-am-now-a-twitter-er/), and must say, so far I think that I am going to stick with it. I have met a few interesting people in my area that I would not have any other way.

And I have been following some "higher-ups" in the industry and have realized that they have the same problems, frustrations, etc as I do. Makes the online marketing scene look much more approachable

lol, you are the odd one if you keep giving marginal examples of a technology to asserts its viability. Instead of picking on twitter while discribing what users have been doing all along with SMS (do you feel the same way about sms? even though the bacon is featured?)you are missing the boat. It is the "possibilities" that are interesting and not the examples that proves that the technology is spitting useless info...for you but not for the messenger.

    Hi George

I've started using Twitter of late just to say "I have" really. So far I see it as a gossip grapevine. Instant gratification for when a person just needs to tell everyone anything, regardless of the value. I don't equate it to SMS, I never saw people mass messaging friends on SMS other chat systems even, it's closest competitor is "office chit chat", so we now have another way we can avoid human contact, no more need to chat at the coffee machine, we can twitter from our desks and avoid all "face" contact with people. On the upside, for people who work at home, it is a release. They can chit chat around the virtual coffee machine.
