Tied to your desk.

I just had a great conference session with James Martell and the focus was about affiliate marketing and travel.

I think one of the big draws of affiliate marketing, or any Internet based business really, is that you can do it from home, free yourself up from travel to the office, live a better lifestyle... but the reality is that many of us become just as tied to our desks now as we did when we had to go to the office to work. Heads down 7 days a week, we barely take note of where we are or what we could ... should... be doing.

If the Internet is our place of work, and our laptops our desk then we should all be trying to take our desks outside, away, far far away, hit the beach, the pool, where ever and start living a little of the lifestyle we planned, but didn't do.

I'm as guilty as everyone else on this, but I wonder how many people do manage to get out and do work where ever they lay their hat.

So here's my challenge for everyone, start working away from your "home" , head to a local pool with wifi, a cafe, library, where ever, experience working "out of the office" and then once you've overcome that nervous first step, see how far you can take your desk, and live a little of that lifestyle we should all be enjoying :-)

HaHa so true. Working in an office was easy compared with working at home. I did far less work.

I've said many times that the beauty and the curse of the internet is it never closes for business.

Two weeks ago I left an in-house position to become a full time contractor and affiliate marketer.

I wake up at 6am, fix a cup of coffee, and get to work. By the time I am finished working it is 7 or 8 pm and I have dinner with my wife, take a shower and...

Most nights I end up getting back on the computer to check messages real quick and end up staying on until 1am working.

The difference on the weekends is that I don't start working until 9 or 10am and might take a walk to the park.

Long story short, if someone thinks working for their self and/or working at home is going to give them 'more' time, they couldn't be further from the truth. At least, not if they want to succeed.

The work load certainly doesn't diminish if you work from home, but there is the flexibility of being your own boss. Affiliate marketing can fit around your personal or family lifestyle not the other way around, thus enjoying a greater quality of life & not letting it dictate your life. As for getting out of the home it's ideal for anyone who is single. Perhaps a challenge could be to pack a rucksack and your laptop, then see how many wondrous worldwide destinations you can visit in 6 months or even a year, as long as you have an internet connection you can obviously still work when you want.

I'm already living the challenge and have broken free of my desk at home! I work from my laptop and am half-way through a round the world trip. In 7 months I've visited Thailand, New Zealand, and Australia. Still to come are Fiji, Hawaii, San Francisco, New York.

I've just finished writing a post on my blog about why affiliate marketing is the greatest job in the universe. Quite ironic to find this post now, but I do think more people should be making the most of being their own boss.

Travel is the main reason I think working as a full time affiliate is just unbelievable. I haven't worked full time for 7 months, and still make a great income and if I can do it... anyone can. Come on in guys, the water's lovely!

That is so true. But I feel the key point is we ourselves must not lose the focus why option is made to work from home and become a full time affiliate marketer

I keep my focus by using music which helps to shape focus and visualization abilities. This soundwave music is introduced by Stephen Pierce.

For me it is working very well and I keep reminding myself whatever situation I am in, keeping visualizing a better, happier life and put in the necc actions to match up. This is the teachings I got from Bob Proctor free attraction report. I got this report at www.secretofunlimitedprosperity.com

I guess life is a journey. Very wonderful and with focus, we can achieve more.

The reason I started affiliate marketing was so I would not be tied down with a regular job, or desk for that matter. So I purchased a car charger for my laptop, and have made it a point to work at the beach as much as possible. It really is an incredible feeling!
